NEW ACROSS THE FAMILY - BOOTABLE WHOLE-DISK CLONING
Clone the machine you're standing at onto a USB disk that boots - every partition, resized to fit.
–clone-system is now in both bench doctors. Run it on the live machine: it lays out the whole system disk on the external drive – the same partition style and types, in the same order – then copies each partition the right way. Windows and macOS volumes are copied from a frozen snapshot (Volume Shadow Copy on Windows, Apple’s asr on the Mac) and resized to fill a larger disk or shrunk toward their used space on a smaller one. Everything else – the Apple partitions on a Boot Camp Mac, Boot Camp itself from the Mac side, WinRE, OEM partitions, Linux ext4 / btrfs / xfs – is block-copied at its exact size with UUIDs intact, and Linux partitions can grow with the one-line grow command printed for the first boot. The source EFI files ride along, so GRUB, OpenCore and the Windows loader survive. Every partition step shows a live spinner with bytes, rate and ETA; the layout is SSD-aligned and proven in the verify step; the target is erased only after a typed confirmation and the source is never written.
Every partition, not just C:
EFI, MSR, Windows, data, WinRE, OEM - and the Apple APFS/HFS+ partitions of a Boot Camp Mac, or Boot Camp itself when you clone from the Mac. Same types, same order.
Resized to fit the new disk
Bigger target: the Windows / macOS / data volumes grow in proportion to fill it. Smaller target: they shrink toward their used space. Block-copied partitions stay byte-exact.
Linux, too
ext4, btrfs, xfs found from the superblock, copied with UUIDs intact so GRUB and fstab still resolve, partition grown on a bigger disk with the resize2fs / btrfs filesystem resize command printed for you.
Live progress, verified result
A spinner per partition with bytes, rate and ETA. Then the verify step: hive, kernel, BCD, EFI loader, SSD alignment - and a clone_system.txt report for the case file.
Windows Server ready
Basic disks on Server 2012 R2 - 2025 (2008 R2 via WinDoctor7). Dynamic/LDM disks are refused up front; domain controllers, Hyper-V, SQL, Exchange, dedup and cluster nodes get their specific warning before you type ERASE.
Safe by construction
The whole per-partition plan is shown first. The external disk is erased only after ERASE DISK n is typed. Nothing on the source disk is ever written.

A speed score that trends over time, a drive-health verdict that sees failure coming, and where we stand against every other bench tool.
–benchmark (Mac and Windows) runs a short, repeatable test – CPU single-thread and all-core, memory bandwidth, disk sequential speed and random IOPS – and calls the storage class outright: a spinning hard disk verdict answers most “why is it so slow” tickets on its own. It composes a Doctor Bench score and trends it against this machine’s own past runs and its fleet siblings, so “12% slower than three weeks ago” is real, not an invented percentile. –disk-health gives each drive a plain GOOD / AGING / FAILING verdict from the SMART counters that convict a drive early, and shows what moved since the last visit – “reallocated 0 → 6 since Aug 20” is the line that says replace it now.

NEW ACROSS THE BENCH - RETAINED BACKUPS & DEEP RECOVERY
The scheduled backup regime and the RAID / multi-filesystem recovery that used to mean a second product.
Two jobs a shop used to send to Macrium, Acronis or R-Studio now live in the same stick. –backup keeps dated, hardlinked snapshots on a grandfather-father-son retention schedule – ten daily copies of a 200 GB home cost about 200 GB, each browses as a full tree, and the schedule is a real Task Scheduler / launchd job. –raid-recover assembles a Linux mdadm array (0/1/5/10, or a RAID 5 missing one member, rebuilt from parity) read-only off the member disks. –carve recovers file contents by signature across ANY filesystem – NTFS, ext4, btrfs, xfs, HFS+, APFS or wiped – for when a normal undelete cannot.
Scheduled retained backups
--backup makes dated snapshots that hardlink unchanged files to the one before, so many restore points cost little space. Grandfather-father-son retention prunes the rest, on a real OS schedule.
RAID, reassembled
--raid-recover reads the RAID metadata off the member disks and presents the array read-only - including a RAID 5 missing one member, rebuilt from parity - to image or carve.
Recovery on any filesystem
--carve recovers file contents by their headers regardless of filesystem - NTFS, ext4, btrfs, xfs, HFS+, APFS or a wiped volume - the multi-filesystem path when undelete can't.
Honest scope: --backup is a file-level retained regime, not a bootable block image (that's --clone-system); --carve recovers contents, not original names; RAID parsing is full for Linux mdadm and detect-and-advise for Intel RST / DDF / dynamic sets. Between them the family covers scheduled backup and deep recovery without a second product.

WHAT IT DOES

Whole-Mac triage
Core Audio, SMC power & battery, GPU and WindowServer crash reports, kernel panics, SMART, thermals and the unified log — prioritized findings with root-cause clusters, so four GPU symptoms score as one failing GPU, not four separate dings.
Repairs that verify themselves (--fix)
Unmute and restart coreaudiod, flush DNS, delete a corrupt install staging folder, re-bless the sealed snapshot OCLP needs, rebuild Spotlight — one confirmation at a time, then each repair is re-measured and reported CLEARED or STILL PRESENT before you leave the site.
Provoke the fault
All-core CPU burn, ramped WebGL GPU load, disk write/read/verify soak — each with a temperature staircase and a throttle verdict. If the Mac dies mid-test, the next run says so, with the temperatures recorded up to the moment of death. That is the diagnosis.
Three programs, one stick
The full binary for Macs that boot. A bash-3.2 triage script for stock Macs with no Python. A POSIX script for the Recovery Terminal on Macs that won't boot at all. The USB builder puts all three on a bootable macOS-installer stick — the cure and the diagnosis on the same media.
Dead-Mac autopsy
Mount the dead Mac's drive on your bench Mac (Target Disk Mode, Share Disk, or an enclosure) and diagnose it anyway: panics with subsystem attribution, crash culprits, install logs, staged upgrades, OCLP state — plus the drive's own SMART. It says plainly what a dead drive cannot show, and never fabricates live-state findings.
Prove the fix
--raw captures the evidence in a 30-second site visit; --compare diffs the return visit against it — findings fixed, persisting, or new, and the score change. --fleet rolls a folder of visits into one worst-first table back at base. The customer sees proof, not a shrug.
Interactive sound test
Generated tones through the current output — both channels, left only, right only — with a verdict: silent means run the audio checkup, one side dead means balance or a blown speaker, all heard means the path is confirmed end to end.
Sensor flight recorder
A one-sample-per-minute log of CPU/GPU temperature, fan speed and thermal pressure, installed for the Mac that crashes “randomly.” The next crash's checkup can say what the temperatures were doing in the half hour before it — implicating heat, or ruling it out.
Weekly monitor & history
A scheduled Sunday scan posts a Notification Center alert when the health score drops. Per-machine history keeps trends honest on a shared stick — machine B's first visit can never “clear” machine A's findings — and intermittent faults that come and go are called intermittent, not fixed.
WATCH IT WORK

Stress tests write a continuously-updated state file. If the machine dies mid-test, the next checkup finds the last heartbeat predating the current boot — and says so. No competitor’s pass/fail hardware test survives its own crash.
OCLP UPGRADE RESCUE
The upgrade that keeps failing — measured, not guessed.
Unsupported Macs kept alive by OpenCore Legacy Patcher account for most “the upgrade loops at the Apple logo” calls. MacDoctor checks the short list that actually decides it — and when the damage is already done, walks the whole recovery.
BEFORE IT BRICKS
Why does this upgrade keep failing?
- The OCLP build is older than the target release — the exact mismatch that makes installers loop at the Apple logo. Re-downloading never helps; MacDoctor names it.
- Broken system seal, 1 GB stub instead of the full installer, corrupt “macOS Install Data”, not enough free space, on battery — each checked, each with its correction.
- “Why does this OCLP Mac freeze?” gets its own diagnosis: root patches vs graphics acceleration, freeze signatures in the log, then a ranked MOST LIKELY CAUSE (--diagnose-oc).
- Before handing the Mac back: a VALID / NOT VALID audit of the whole OCLP state, with the update guard rails armed on the spot if they aren't (--validate-oclp).

- Migration Assistant refuses a newer-than-me drive; the rescue masks the old drive's version (backed up, reversible, flagged until restored) so it stops refusing.
- When migration still fails: accounts recreated, homes rsync'd with automatic resume, every copy verified by size, the reinstall-these app list at the end.
- A Photos library the newer macOS already migrated is rebuilt batch-by-batch into a fresh RescuePhotos library — albums recreated, originals never touched (--recover-photos).
